SVVR Educational Society, the parent body of FABS, is promoted bySAGAR group of industries. As part of its CSR programme, the group isactively involved in developing IT education facilities, providinghealth and education services in rural areas. The Society is promotedby a highly intellectual team genuinely interested in building a worldclass Agri Business School. Dr. MS Swaminathan, the father India’sGreen Revolution is the Chief Patron of FABS. Its promoters are Sri SVeera Reddy – 1st generation industrialist who founded Sagar group;Dr. Ramuplla Reddy, PhD from IARI & IAS, GOI; Dr. NRN Reddy, PhD fromIARI & IRS (Customs); Mr. B Guruva Reddy, PGDRM (IRMA); Mrs Anuradha &Mrs. Malathi, both bring their IT experience to the Institute.
Some of the finest professionals from academics and industry haveconsented to be the Board of Directors of FABS. Some of them are Mr.BM Vyas, Managing Director, Gujarat Milk Marketing CooperativeFederation (GCMMF), Anand; Prof. Vishwanadham, Senior Professor atIndian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad; Prof. MS Sriram is ICICIBank Lalita D Gupte Chair Professor in Microfinance & Chairperson,Finance and Accounting Area at Indian Institute of Management,Ahmedabad (yet to confirm); and Mr. Sanjeev Asthana, President & CE,Agri Business & Food Supply Chain of Reliance Retail, Gurgaon. Fewmore persons will be added from India and abroad.
The vision of FABS is to provide a world class platform for education,research and knowledge creation in food, agri business and alliedsectors; and to strive to transform agriculture from “a way of life”into “an enterprise”. To realize this vision, FABS will help thepracticing managers and students to become effective global leaders infood and agri business and allied sectors by providing innovativetraining/ education programmes and extensive industry-academiainteraction.
Some details about PGDM (Agri Business) programme follow. It is afully residential 2-year programme recognized by AICTE. We arebenchmarking its courses with the best in the world. The programmewill include core management courses, core agri business courses, andspecialization streams. To start with, FABS will offer specializationin agri business marketing, agri business finance and internationalagriculture. International Trade in Agri Business and Agriculture &Agri Business in Select Countries will be our two unique courses inthe International Agriculture specialization stream.
The faculty team is led by Dr. K Prathap Reddy who was an ARSScientist and a doctorate from Indian Institute of Management,Ahmedabad. He worked for over 10 years in ICAR and over 15 years atInstitute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA). He was IRMA’s Directorduring 2002 to 20065. Other core and visiting faculty will have strongacademic or industry background or both.
Admission to PGDM (Agri Business) is open to all the graduates ofagriculture and allied subjects recognized by ICAR/UGC with an OGPA of5.00 out of 10.00 or 50% aggregate marks or their equivalents atgraduation level. All the students who have taken the Admission Testconducted by IIMs (CAT) or GMAT or ATMA or MAT or MANAGE, Hyderabad orNIAM, Jaipur are eligible to apply. In addition, candidates can alsoapply but have to appear for an admission test to be conducted by FABSon June 14, 2009 at Hyderabad. Final selection will be based on theabove admission test scores and scores in personal discussion to beconducted at Hyderabad from June 15, 2009 onwards.
FABS has state of the art facilities which library; a PC lab; alanguage lab with coaching in select foreign languages; anaesthetically designed canteen with WiFi connectivity; single seatedseparate hostel accommodation for boys and girls and a PersonalityDevelopment Center headed by a world renowned hypnotist-cum-managementconsultant – Dr. Pattabhi Ram for improving one’s personality andcommunication skills.
The course fee is Rs. 5,25,000/- for two years payable in two equalinstallments at the beginning of 1st and 2nd years. The fee includesthe deposits, tuition and computer fee, a laptop, library membership,hostel room rent & electricity, boarding, and medical consultationwith doctor at FABS, and alumni association membership fee. Loans areavailable from banks. The Institute will make all the efforts tosecure meaningful placements to all its graduating students.
